Two Nominations + One Big Ask

Jun 3, 2026

Something beautiful happened, and I want you to know about it.

Fox + Feather has been nominated for the Best on the Shoreline 2026 awards, hosted by Shore Publishing and Zip06 — the local news network covering our Connecticut Shoreline community. I have been individually nominated for Mental Health Professional, and Fox + Feather has been nominated for Mental Health Practice.

I am sitting with a full heart as I write this.

When I opened Fox + Feather, I was a woman in recovery with a vision, a clinical license, and a deep, bone-level knowing that art could heal what words alone could not. I did not know if the world was ready. I did not know if this community would find us, trust us, or let us walk alongside them in their hardest moments.

You did. You have. You do, every single day.

These Nominations Belong to You

These nominations are not mine. They belong to every person who has sat across from one of our art therapists and said, quietly or loudly, I am ready to try. They belong to my extraordinary team, who show up with creativity, compassion, and clinical excellence week after week. They belong to this community — you — who have referred loved ones, shared our work, and believed in what we are building here on the shoreline.

Why Visibility Matters in Mental Health Care

Winning this award matters beyond a plaque on the wall.

When a parent is searching for help for their teenager and doesn’t know where to turn, community recognition is often what helps them choose. When a woman finally decides she is ready to address her eating disorder, seeing that a practice is trusted and celebrated by her neighbors gives her the courage to make the call. When a young person in our LGBTQIA+ community is looking for affirming care, local visibility signals safety.

Visibility reaches people. And reaching people saves lives. This is not an exaggeration — it is the daily reality of our work at 725 Boston Post Road in Guilford, CT.
